It's funny how I'm choosing to update my posts backwards, Sunday before Saturday. Ah well that's because there're too many pictures from Saturday it'll take a while, so let's just be done with the easy ones first shall we?

Yesterday was brunch with my 'Challenger' mate Jack. A friend with car naturally calls for somewhere different (in other words not as accessible for me to bother with in the usual case). Took a chance with Five & Dime. I've read, seen and heard of the place from Instagram and blogs, as and with most other trending brunch cafes on the island. I can't be bothered with too many pictures on the interiors, all I take is food as you can tell. My choice was the Mentaiko Pasta and an Iced Cafe Mocha, which is surprising since I was set on ordering another typical, Eggs Benny. The mocha was rather horrid and bitter though. Thank goodness the pasta was the bomb-diggity (abso-fucking-lutely LOVE anything mentaiko). Sadly, I wouldn't say portions are big there, which would deter me from heading there again. But still, pretty cool place to chill, and the storefront looks so rad I love it. Gimme larger portions and I'd be back. I'm a hungry girl to please.

Moved on to The Fabulous Baker Boy for some desserts. Shared a slice of Green Tea cake, which was way too heavy and flimsy in my opinion. The cake could hardly stay together after sliced through twice, and the cream left this buttery aftertaste which made me feel like a down-ed a can of whipped cream. There goes my diet, thank you very much.

Caught a movie after. Woohoo, finally. Haven't been watching them in cinemas of late, missing out too much.  I kinda love the surround sounds in cinemas, and the booms and bams. Always a fascination with magic, we chose 'Now You See Me'. Definitely an interesting one to catch, and a smart twist to it. I love how convincingly cocky Jesse Eisenberg (don;t you just love how cool Eisenberg sounds) is in all of his movies, and the way he talks is as fast as Busta Rhymes can rap. Like whoa. Realized that Jack Wilder in the movie turns out to be Dave Franco (James Franco's brother), and he looks pretty hot in the show. It's always important to check out the hot stuff first for a movie to keep me going. The funniest thing was when my friend and I could only constantly refer Dylan Rhodes (Mark Ruffalo) as The Hulk and Arthur Tressler (Michael Caine) as Albert (the butler from Batman). The names just stick to you like that. Great movie anyway, I might just search for it online to watch it again. Which again reminds me to get me that Ipad Mini.

Next up, Man of Steel. Mm Henry Cavill...yum.

As the pun in my title suggests, the Sumatra fires have striked again. And this time round with the hardest vengeance with PSI readings at the highest ever of 371 yesterday. Holy hell. Everywhere is clouded with smoke, and basically everything that's anything just stinks real bad. I could do without washing my hair like this, given it stinks after just five minutes. And I can really almost feel that 20-year hidden asthma attack acting up anytime soon with this, and I am not even kidding. Suffocation has never felt this bad, literally. Right now Bangkok air feels like the freshest meadows in comparison, and I'd give anything to be back there right now. And apparently people are thinking of stocking up for war now, what with masks flying off shelves faster than you could say go. Sellers taking the opportunity to raise prices more than double the usual. And even stores have run out of air purifiers to sell. I mean, seriously people? Talk about drama.

Hello.

I am back from my holiday. Sadly. I could really do with one more. Or let's just say more.

Bangkok was awesome. And dirty. And blistering hot. Unfortunately, I didn't manage to capture much on my camera - firstly, cause I was either busy shopping, paying or carrying shit; secondly, the weather was too darn glaringly hot for me to bother much and I was constantly wiping sweat off myself; and lastly, this was basically a shopper's scavenger hunt, so there's really nothing interesting in mountains of clothes. On the bright side, I did manage to take a lot of food pictures though. Y'all know me and my food picture-taking habits. I'm Singaporean after all. #foodporn -snorts- We stayed at Glow Pratunam Hotel by the way, some new hotel opposite the streets of Platinum Mall. I love Bangkok hotels, such huge rooms. Mine at Glow was probably three times the size of Shinjuku Prince Hotel in Tokyo. Man, I heart big rooms and comfy sheets.

Anyway, I hadn't shopped that much for myself, instead I think my family'd gotten more out of it! Like I mentioned before, not much for the fashion there, but I did grab a few things here and there, just cause they were pretty cheap indeed. But prices have definitely risen there, and the shop sellers are less inclined with further negotiations. Thankfully I had my best girl K around to cover the 'buy 2 get more discount' dilemma. Though my 500 bucks budget didn't exactly cover all, and I had to top up another 50 bucks in desperation for my last few meals. Speaking of meals, I think we ate considerably loads (well, for me 3 full meals are pretty heavy weight). And the food can be pretty oily, yikes. I really hope no one comments on my weight. Sadly, due to lack of time we had to miss out a few places that I'd planned to try! -sulks- And most annoyingly, I had one of the worst bad throats during my trip, so regretfully I couldn't take in as much as I would have wanted. Worse still, Bangkok food is pretty much spicy all round, and I LOVE my spicy food. Turns out there's a major ulcer stuck on the top side of my tonsils, which I realized on day three due to unbearable pain while eating (um, specifically tom yam). And I'm still stuck with it till the medicines kick in and heal it (seriously WTF dude). Ugh. I'm definitely heading back to try out the rest of the good lot. I'm missing the food already. Pictures soon and you'll see why.

And now, back to working out. Boo.

In less than 24 hours, I'll be in the land of smiles! Bangkok here we come baby. Queen for the next four days, ahhhh. And this time round, I hope to savor as much good food possible, no holding back. And then I'll run to Erawan Shrine to beg not to gain any weight while at it hah! And I'll be sure to pray for that hopeful wish that's been lingering. -wink wink-

I'll be taking tons of pictures too. Well, at least I hope I do when I'm not too busy shopping or stuffing myself silly.

Update soon. Bye Singapore, helloooooooooooo Bangkok! xo

25.

Yesterday, a thought struck to me to start digging through old photos. Sudden inspirations come to me now and then, when I think about redecorating my room or just plain readjustments. I flipped through a whole lot of them, aged and yellow. And memories started flooding through. Back then, back when.

I chose two favorites and stuck them to my wall. Permanent.

Some weekends ago, the family and I did the annual trip to the temple to visit my dad. Past years, I've done my own trips to the memoriam at Mandai. But this year, out of convenience, a visit to the temples sufficed instead. Either way, never a trip do I not shed a tear. 25th May. A memory of loss, and a reminder of regret. A date never forgotten. I remember it happening as if it just happened yesterday. At that moment, I felt shattered all over again.

I miss you daddy. Very much. I still very much do.

Four days to my 25th. The damned number, 25.

I could do with none of it anymore.
